GLORY - rendering respect or admiration to the invisible qualities & character of God that is made visible & knowable


Seen in Creations, Human Beings, and the Old Testament


Scripture: When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.

John 17: 1 – 5


What was Jesus’ primary purpose during his life here on earth?

When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you

John 17: 1


Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Philippians 2: 5 – 7


For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

Romans 11: 36


How did Jesus glorify the Father?

since you have given him authority over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him.

John 17: 2


Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:19


And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Mark 8: 31


Why do we glorify the Father?

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

John 17: 3


And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11: 6


Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Romans 12:2


How do we glorify the Father?

I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.

John 17: 4


And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Philippians 2: 8


By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others

1 Corinthians 9: 13


Why do we glorify the Son?

And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.

John 17: 5


In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1: 1


The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1: 14


CONCLUSION


He (Jesus) is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Hebrews 1: 3


“I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one”

John 17: 22


Reflection [Magnilay-nilay] and Practice [I-apply ang Natutunan]


Nakikita mo ba ang kadakilaan ng Diyos sa buhay mo? O na-iignore mo lang ito?

Nabibigyang rin ba ng kadakilaan ang Diyos sa pamamagitan ng iyong buhay? Paano?


Ano ang mga pwede mong action na gawin o next step para mabigyan ng glory ang Diyos at magawa ang nais Niya?
