Rewind [Balikan ang Napakinggan]

General call - He has saved us and called us to a holy life — not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. - 2 Timothy 1:9-10

Special call - And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. - Ephesians 4:11-14

I. THE TIMING OF GOD’S CALL (JEREMIAH 1:4-9)

Jeremiah 1:4-5 - Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

A. CALLED EVEN BEFORE WE WERE CONCEIVED

to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, and until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the captivity of Jerusalem in the fifth month. - Jeremiah 1:2-3

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10

B. CALLED EVEN BEFORE WE ARE CAPABLE

Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” - Jeremiah 1:6

But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. – Jeremiah 1:7-9

COMMON EXCUSES:

- Experience

- Eloquence

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;  God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:26-29

II. THE TAKING OF GOD’S CALL (Jeremiah 4:10-16)

A. AUTHORITY

See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.” - Jeremiah 1:10

Spiritual authority is “the God-given right to receive and use God's power that flows from the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. - Luke 10:19

B. ANOINTING

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses ...” – Acts 1:8

To be anointed by God means to be consecrated and the Spirit of the Lord is present in us.

*

“filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft” - Exodus 31:1–5

C. ASSISTANCE

I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing. - Psalm 37:25-26

III. THE TESTING [THAT COMES WITH] GOD’S CALL - Jeremiah 4:17-19

But you, dress yourself for work; arise, and say to them everything that I command you. Do not be dismayed by them, lest I dismay you before them. - Jeremiah 1:17

THERE WILL BE OPPOSITION…

After several years of preaching, Jeremiah’s family turned against him and even plotted to kill him (Jeremiah 1:8, 11:21-23, 12:6). Over the years, he was whipped and put in the stocks (Jeremiah 20:1-3), attacked by a mob (Jeremiah 26:1-9), threatened by the king (Jeremiah 36:26), and ridiculed (Jeremiah 28). Some of Zedekiah’s princes had Jeremiah arrested, beaten, accused of treason, and thrown in jail (Jeremiah 37:1-15), from whence he was then thrown in a deep empty well (Jeremiah 38:1-6). He lived through the siege of Jerusalem along with the rest and was there as the people were taken away as captives.

Perhaps worst of all, Jeremiah was alone. He was not allowed to marry (Jeremiah 16:2), and his family abandoned him. The people turned against him and didn’t believe him. He was alone with the knowledge of the horrors coming for Judah.

"It's war that makes generals.” – Seth Godin

If we want to be used by God for his glory, we must be prepared for trials. God entrusts us with trials. Lots of them. Paul said that “through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22).

Do you want to be used by God? It’s worth it, but it isn’t easy. If we want to be used by God for his glory, we will be entrusted with trials.

…BUT THEY WILL NOT PREVAIL.

And I, behold, I make you this day a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land. They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the Lord, to deliver you – Jeremiah 1:18-19

No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” - Isaiah 54:17

CONCLUSION

God's children who respond to God's call will receive God's rewards and will experience God's miracles on a regular basis – because it is just God's way.

Sign-up for a ministry now. Talk to your CC leader.

· Kung nais pang mas matuto sa salita ng Diyos, mag-enroll na sa Foursquare Bible College.

· Ikaw ba ay tinatawag ng Lord na maging pastor? Kausapin ang iyong CC leader.

Prayer [Panalangin]

Closing [Pangwakas]
