Series: From This Day, Forward!

Topic: Best Foot Forward

Date: Aug 22, 2021

Opening [Pambungad]

Napakahalaga to build a genuine relationship with your members.

3. Kamustahin ang kanilang mga naging nakaraang lingo – any highlights or challenges.

4. Kamustahin kung nagawa ba nila ang application last week

GOD has brought you to a race that you can finish. He saved you. HE saved me. He has a plan! A wonderful plan! He did not design for us to become THE GREAT FAILURE as we think we are! Realize that! Acknowledge that! God isn’t finished yet!

I. CONTINUE PRESSING FORWARD IN GOD’S STRENGTH

A. By being disciplined in training – Heb. 12: 11 "For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it."

Application: May mga spiritual training from the Lord…minsan easy lang pero mapapansin natin pabigat nang pabigat kasi lumalakas na rin ang spiritual muscles natin. Nag-spiritual cramps pa rin tayo, spiritual ‘ngalay’ in God’s training but, the same God gives us the strength to surpass every discipline challenge.

B. By following rules in competition (thouh at times, the judges are partial)

II Tim. 2:5 And if someone likewise competes as an athlete, he is not crowned as victor unless he competes according to the rules.

Application: Imagine our athlete violating the rules. Disqualified agad! May mga Biblical principles for us to live by. Sundin natin.

C. By having the proper mindset and attitude (will and determination)

Eccl. 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.

Col. 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord

Eph. 6:7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.

WALA NANG PA-ATRAS-ATRAS! At WALA ring ATRAS-ABANTE! NO RETREAT! NO BACKING OUT!

Challenge: Let God be your strength in the inner man! DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE DEVIL TO STOP PRESSING FORWARD!

II. CONTINUE PRESSING FORWARD FOR GOD’S PLEASURE (despite the setbacks, difficulties and problems)

A. By letting go of ‘extra baggage’ – Hebrews 12:1 let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.

“If we would run well, we must run light; if we would run light, we must look to Christ.

Application: Both sins that beset us (walang sin na hindi nakakapaglugmok, maliit man o malaki) at the weights (habits, hobbies, habitudes, hybridity, hocus pocus, hoodlums) that entangle us.

B. By being aware of ‘cutters’ or ‘swervers’ - Galatians 5:7

“You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?”

There were ‘cutters’ – But maybe we also swerve on other people’s paths, we might also be cutting their journey. Take note that there may be other runners (think of their names, their faces)

Application: Who cut in on you? Ang bago mong trabaho at suweldo, kaya hindi ka na mafeed ng salita ng Dios at makasama katulad nang dati? ang bago mong friends at acquaintances, kaya you don’t see the pleasure of discipline and correction from your old friends? You were running a good race, worshiping and serving the Lord, anyare??? Are you, up to know, blaming others for what happened o choice mo naman tumigil? Saan na patungo ang iyong spiritual journey? To the left, to the right?

C. By being inspired by ‘cloud of witnesses’ – Hebrews 12:1a Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses

Witnesses: “By faith I finished the race, you can too!” By faith, you can finish. You can lay the weights down and the sins. By faith, by the assurance of better things hoped for, you can do it. I did it. And I know it can be done. Run. Run!”

Application: Kay rami nang gumabay sa iyo! Kay rami nang tumulong sa iyo! Huwag sayangin ang tiwala sa iyo!!! Seriously, these cloud of witnesses that surround you, whether dead or living, are proclaiming to you that you are loved and worth the spiritual investments! May mga panahong gusto na rin nilang sukuan ka, pero nanadyan pa rin sila, cheering you on! Daming supporters! Daming buyers! Daming cheerers! Daming prayer warriors on your behalf!

WALA NANG PALINGON-LINGON! NO LOOKING BACK!

Challenge: Let the Holy Spirit lead you in all your steps and leaps and jumps

III. CONTINUE PRESSING WITH GOD’S PEOPLE - I Timothy 4:14 (despite the personal ‘loss’ and image-shattering)

A. By using our ministry gifts – Body of Christ (bodyless?)

Do not be ignorant – it is such foolishness! (I Cor. 12:12-27 – you belong to the body!) Do not neglect – it is such a loss! (I Timothy 4:14 – you will be an example!) Do not hide – it is such a waste! (I Peter 4:10 – you value God’s grace!) Do not despair – it is only for a time! ( Proverbs 22:29 – you will serve kings!)

B. By ‘propelling’ one another – Philippians 2:3-4

Romans 15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.

You may see it or not, as you utilize God-given skills for His kingdom and glory, you are able to PRESS another person towards the goal.

C. By acknowledging ‘helping hands’- Romans 16:1-15

Sometimes we hit the wall. Anyone who runs long distance knows what it is to hit the wall. At some point in the race, you are convinced you can’t go on–that means you’ve hit it.

Priscilla and Aquila – fellow workers Andronicus and Junia – elders in faith Ampliatus and Urbanus – dear friends Rufus and his mother – brother and foster ‘nameless’ mother

YOU ARE STILL STANDING, YOU ARE STILL RUNNING AND IN THE RUNNING!

WALA NANG HILA-HILAAN PAATRAS! NO CRAB MENTALITY! NO STUMBLING BLOCKS!

Conclusion:

Isa. 40: 31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Psalm 18:29 With your help I can advance against a troop ; with my God I can scale a wall.

The runner make have an injury that prevents them from running the race. Or the runner may not have the mental focus and just quits when it gets too hard. Or finally, the runner may be disqualified by breaking the race’s rules. Regardless of the reason, the runner who quits, does not finish and receive the prize at the end of the race.

HE WHO BEGAN A GOOD WORK IN YOU WILL BE FAITHFUL TO COMPLETE IT IN YOU!

Reflect [Magnilay-nilay]

  1. Are you honest in your ‘race’, o medyo nandadaya? (Be honest!)

  2. What are the extra weights/baggage that hinder your walk? Bakit hindi mo mabitawan?

  3. Sino ang nag-cut sa iyo? (Yung imbis na tumino ka, ay lumala?) Are you, up to know, blaming others for what happened o choice mo naman tumigil? Saan na patungo ang iyong spiritual journey?

  4. How does it make you feel that we are ‘surrounded by a cloud of witnesses’ at hindi tayo mag-isa sa ating race (at hindi rin tayo ang tanging tao na dumadaan sa ating pinagdadaanan)?

  5. Are you using your gifts for ministry? If yes, saan? If no, bakit hindi?

  6. Meron bang other person in our spiritual family (kahit isa man lang) na tinutulungan mong lumago sa kanyang faith? If meron, sino? If wala, bakit kaya wala?

  7. Who are some people na nag-press on sa iyo at tumulong sa iyong journey?

Practice [I-apply ang Natutunan]

  1. Make a CHOICE to let go of your extra baggage.

  2. Use your gifts to serve in a ministry. Ask your Care Circle leader for ministry opportunities.

  3. Sino kaya ang pwede mong alagaan or i-‘propel’ sa ating spiritual family? Sabihin sa iyong Care Circle leader kung sino and start praying for them.

  4. Thank those who helped you in your journey!

Prayer [Panalangin]

Closing [Pangwakas]

I-remind ang grupo tungkol sa mg ito:

- Kanilang daily Bible reading and devotion

- Pagdalo sa church

- Pagbibigay (tithes and offering)
