Series: From This Day, Forward!
Topic: Face Forward
Date: Aug 29, 2021
Opening [Pambungad]
Napakahalaga to build a genuine relationship with your members.
3. Kamustahin ang kanilang mga naging nakaraang lingo – any highlights or challenges.
4. Kamustahin kung nagawa ba nila ang application last week
And we all never know WHERE THAT FINISH LINE IS and WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN? Bukas, makalawa, next year, next decade? Or now? With all the news of our dear friends, family members, pastors and brethren falling on the left and on the right, here yesterday, gone today.. here today, gone tomorrow.
I. FACE YOUR JOURNEY FORWARD WITH EXPEDIENCY FOR GOD’S REWARDS (profitability in a positive sense) – HUMARAP SA TAKBUHIN NANG MAY PAKINABANGAN TUNGO SA GANTIMPALA NG DIOS
Sumphero - profitable, better for, good Expediency - is all about making the righteous decisions based upon the will of God.
When we are continually debating over the letter of the law and forget the spirit of the law then we may have lost our balance. Or, if we only try to think about the spirit of the law and forget the letter of law the same may occur.
I Cor. 9: 24-27 (ESV) Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
A. Not running aimlessly but with a goal that is imperishable
Naging Born again? Katulad ni Apostol Pablo – I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:14)
B. Not beating the air but fighting like a good boxer
Paul shows clearly that he did not spare his opponent, or allow him to escape his blows; nor did he waste his time in mediocre fighting, because his opponent must be dealt with firmly. He targeted every blow with surety, aiming it with power so that it effectively did what it was supposed to do.
C. Not obeying my flesh but keeping it under control
MAY PAKINABANG BA SA IYONG MGA KATRABAHO O SA IYONG NASASAKUPAN ANG IYONG MGA SIGAW AT PAGMAMALTRATO at MALING PAGTUTUWID?
(Matt. 19:10)
Delete what is not expedient, yung hindi makakatulong, hindi makakaigi...yung hindi gagantimpalaan!
II. FACE YOUR JOURNEY FORWARD WITH FERVENCY IN GOD’S AGENDA – HARAPIN ANG TAKBUHIN NANG MAY KASIGLAHAN SA ADYENDA NG DIOS
Greek 1) dalaq – burning (glowing hot sun) ; 2) ektenes – stretched out (runner with stretched body to the finish line tape), strained, 3) zeo -to boil (boiling water) …zelos -fervor or zeal
Fervently – striving or struggling (great effort), mag-effort sa:
A. Pagmamahalan –
I Thessalonians 2:17, II Cor. 11:11
Vs. 2 For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy:
Paul’s godly jealousy is a good thing, and he will be offended if the Corinthians are seduced by a false understanding of what being an apostle is all about.
Godly jealousy - concern for the holiness, integrity, purity of ethics, and Christian standards for His people.
Paul was boiling of concern for the brethren!
B. Pananalangin –
Acts 12:5 So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God. (NASB 1977)
Hindi basta nag-Family Prayer Cell at nagbasa ng script at nagpapicture kungdi burning with burden for those that are being prayed for.
FACE FORWARD, do not ignore them! PRAY FOR THEM WITH FERVENT PRAYERS
C. Pasasalamat –
Luke 10:21 Jesus Himself:
On that same occasion Jesus was filled by the Holy Spirit with rapturous joy. "I give Thee fervent thanks," He exclaimed, "O Father, Lord of Heaven and earth, that Thou hast hidden these things from sages and men of understanding, and hast revealed them to babes. Yes, Father, for such has been Thy gracious will. (WNT)
How fervent is it? Hindi lang once, hindi lang twice…. Is your face toward God to thank Him for everything He is doing?
D. Paglilingkod –
Romans 12: 11
…made of wood, hay, straw.
III. FACE YOUR JOURNEY FORWARD WITH URGENCY ACCORDING TO GOD’S TIMETABLE - HARAPIN ANG TAKBUHIN NANG AYON SA TALATAKDAAN NG DIOS
May timeline, may timetable ang Dios…. He cannot forever wait for people to obey Him but His mercy so abounds.
This calls for swift action! It is not about the age; biglaan ang mga namamatay; left and right!
A. Romans 13:11 – nearer and nearer
B. John 9:4 – while it is day; Habang may liwanag pa, habang hindi pa binabawalan (pero nakikita nyo naman po na parang binabawalan…protocol)
C. Rev. 3:11 – hold fast to seize the crown - I am coming quickly; hold fast; continue your race as those who are striving for a garland (1Corinthians 9:24). Hold fast that thou hast.’ For if you do not hold it fast, it will slip.
D. I Cor. 7:29-31 – Check your priorities
This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.
Whenever the Bible speaks of work, it includes a sense of urgency. As Solomon says, “Get it done now because there is no chance to complete it after you’re dead.” The Biblical perspective is always the realistic perspective. No one knows what tomorrow brings (despite of weather predictions). That means we must take a “Do it now” attitude. What God calls you to work, don’t delay.
There is grave danger ahead; FACE THE TRUTH THAT WE NEED TO DECIDE HOW TO LIVE OUR LIVES NOW
CONCLUSION: AS YOU FACE THE FINISH LINE, MAKE SURE TO LEAVE A LEGACY
All the action words may be used either for negative purposes or for positive. But we always choose to positively (not with covid) apply these in our lives.
Expediency – best para kanino, for the good nino, sa pag-asenso mo? IS YOUR FACING FORWARD TO THE FINISH LINE or FACING THE SUCCESS THAT YOU WANT?
Fervency - burning hot with what? Nag-aalab ka para sa mga maling bagay? Enthusiastic for what? Sa layaw ng mundo? ARE YOUR FACING FORWARD TO THE FINISH LINE or are you burning with passion, not for the lost people, not for the gospel, but with evil desires and slfish ambitions?
Urgency – nagmamadali sa maling bagay? Minamadali mo, hindi ang malaman ng mga tao ang tungkol sa Dios kungdi, you are redeeming the time because you just want to reach success earlier than others, or getting rid of something you do not like, instead of REDDEMING THE TIME BECAUSE malapit nang dumating ang Panginoon? Saan Niya kaya ako matatagpuan….am I an the last stretch of the finish line, triving for the prize like what Paul said: press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I PRESS ON TOWARD THE GOAL - that GOAL is UPWARD… I am pressing on the UPWARD WAY… but before I leave this earth anytime, I should be making sure that:
Psalm 145.4: One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.
Philippians 4.9: What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
II Timothy 2.2: And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
May all who come behind us find us faithful! Maging tapat! Proverbs 13:22
THE FOOTPRINTS THAT WE LEAVE SHOULD BE BIGGER THAN US! THEY SHOULD LEAVE AN EXAMPLE OF A LIFE WELL-LIVED IN CHRIST AND FOR CHRIST! - Ptra. K
Reflect [Magnilay-nilay]
What are the things you are facing?
When God calls me home anytime, can I honestly say that my life has been PROFITABLE FOR MANY? Does my life point people to Christ or point people to me? Who do I draw attention to?
Am I willing to make sacrifice of my freedoms to edify (build up, encourage, strengthen) others?
Do you take time to FERVENTLY pray for others?
Are you always filled with gratitude? Nagpapasalamat ka bas a Diyos palagi?
(Bakit kaya sa school, work, finances mas may urgency tayo?)
Practice [I-apply ang Natutunan]
Assess your priorities and activities – make sure God and His Kingdom work is at the center.
Show your LOVE FERVENTLY! Face that office mate that does not love you. Face that family member that is evil to you. Conquer them with fervent love
Commit to pray for our daily prayer items, and do family prayer or join our online prayer cell.
Make a vision/mission statement for yourself and your family. (Siguraduhing naka-sentro sa Panginoon!) And ipamuhay ito.
Prayer [Panalangin]
Closing [Pangwakas]
I-remind ang grupo tungkol sa mg ito:
