THE LIGHT OVERCOMES US (Isaiah 60:1)
Jesus: The Light That Has Come
OT: "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you." - Isaiah 60:1
NT: "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." - John:8:12
A. Light Illuminates
“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” – 2 Cor 4:6
B. Light Promotes Life
“but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.” – 2 Timothy 1:10
C. Light Provides Vision
Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going.” – John 12:35
D. Light Is Persistent
Ganyan po ang Diyos, na kahit tinalikuran natin Siya at pinili nating mabuhay sa dilim, pinili pa rin Niyang ibigay ang Kanyang Bugtong na Anak na si Hesus para hindi tayo manatiling nasa dilim.
We are recipients of God’s promises! Ang Liwanag ni Hesus ay para sa atin!
THE LIGHT OVERTAKES US (Isaiah 60:2-4)
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and His glory will be seen upon you.
A. For The Nations
For so the Lord has commanded us, saying, “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 14:37
B. For The Kings
“And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” – Isaiah 60:3
C. For Our Sons and Daughters
“Lift up your eyes all around, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be carried on the hip.” – Isaiah 60:4
THE LIGHT OVERWHELMS US (Isaiah 60:5-6)
A. Generosity We Cannot Contain
Then you shall see and be radiant; your heart shall thrill and exult, because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you. (ESV)
GNT: you will tremble with excitement
NCV: you will be excited and full of joy
MSG: your heart will swell and, yes, burst!
Abundance (haw-mone) – abundance, company, many, multitude, multiply, noise, riches, rumbling
A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come. They shall bring gold and frankincense and shall bring good news, the praises of the Lord.
B. Accuracy We Cannot Comprehend
Messianic prophecies refer to a compilation of over one hundred predictions (conservative estimate) in the OT regarding the Messiah.
One reason we know God is believable is because of His incomparable record of fulfilled prophecy. Out of literally hundreds of prophecies that have arrived at their time, every single one has been fulfilled exactly as God said, down the minutest detail.
Tinupad ng Diyos and Kanyang mga pangako sa pamamagitan ni Hesus! Wala na tayong dahilan pang magduda!
CONCLUSION
Jesus fulfilled His role according to the prophecies, according to the promises. Our role: ARISE AND SHINE!
ARISE: Tumayo at bumangon,. Tumindig at magpatuloy. Harapin ang reyalidad ng buhay habang niyayakap ang mga pangako ng Diyos. Hindi pwedeng lulugo-lugo, hindi pwedeng complacement. Nandito na si Kristo, dapat may nababago na! ARISE! Tayo na, bangon na! ARISE!
SHINE: Magningning tayo. May liwanag nang dumating sa atin. Dapat hindi na tayo madilim, aandap-andap at pipitik-pitik ang liwanag. Hindi sa umpisa lang nagliwanag at nung nagpandemic ay lumabo na. Magliwanag nang tuluyan! SHINE!
Reflection [Magnilay-nilay]
1. Paano mo na-experience sa buhay mo na ang LIGHT ang nag-illuminate sa iyo—sa pamamagitan ng nagbigay ng kaliwanagan tungkol sa katotohanan ng Diyos at spiritual knowledge? Paano mo na-experience sa buhay mo na ang LIGHT ang nagbigay sa iyo ng vision—vision na binibigyan ka ng gabay sa tamang tatahakin?
2. Naranasan mo na ba na naging persistent ang LIGHT sa iyo? Hindi ka sinusukuan? Ikwento.
3. Sa tingin mo ba ay nakikita ng mga unbelievers ang glory ng Lord sa iyong buhay? Bakit o bakit hindi?
4. Sa tingin mo ba ay nakikita ng iyong mga leaders/mga boss ang glory ng Lord sa iyong buhay? Bakit o bakit hindi?
5. Sa tingin mo ba ay naipapasa mo rin sa iyong pamilya na makita rin nila ang LIGHT? Bakit o bakit hindi?
6. Paano mo na na-experience ang generosity ng Lord sa iyong buhay?
7. Gaano ka nagtitiwala sa Diyos na Siya ay tumutupad sa Kanyang mga pangako?
8. Sa tingin mo ba ay naga-ARISE ka sa iyong buhay? Ikaw ba ay tumatayo at bumabangon, tumitindig at nagpapatuloy sa iyong spiritual walk? Hindi na lulugo-lugo at nagbago na? Bakit o bakit hindi?
9. Sa tingin mo ba ay nagshi-SHINE ka sa iyong buhay? Ikaw ba ay umalis na sa dilim at patuloy na nagliliwanag (at walang excuses, kahit na may pandemya)? Bakit o bakit hindi?
