Story of a life redeemed: Luke 23:26-43
v.41-43 - We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Ephesians 1:7 – In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace..
REDEEM – means, to set free by the payment of price (in the old times, “redemption money” was the purchase price of a slave)
I. THE REDEEMER AND THE COST OF HIS REDEMPTION
Ephesians 1:7 - In him we have redemption through his blood…
A. THE MEANS OF REDEMPTION
· Jesus, the Redeemer. Jesus qualifies as a redeemer by virtue of being our kinsman
· As a background, in the Book of Ruth in OT, merong apat na conditions na dapat ay present sa isang kinsman-redeemer before he could pay the price:
o 1. DAPAT ay kinsman (kamag-anak). Kabahagi sya ng pamilya at meron blood relationship.
o 2. DAPAT ay acceptable sa magkabilang panig
o 3. DAPAT ay mayroong kakayanan na magbayad.
o 4. DAPAT ay payag sya.
· SI Jesus na ating Redeemer ay karapat-dapat dahil:
o Siya ay naging kaisa natin thru John 1:14
o Siya ay acceptable dahil siya ay God-man, acceptable sa God at sa man
Siya ay able dahil totally ay wala syang kasalanan. (without blemish)
o Siya ay willing maging manunubos na pinatunayan ng kanyang pagkamatay sa Krus.
B. THE COST OF REDEMPTION
· What was the price to pay for our sins? The blood of Jesus.
· In the Old Testament, the blood of bulls, lambs and goats was simply symbolic of the actual death of Jesus Christ.
II. THE REDEEMED ONES
A. THE REDEEMED BEFORE REDEMPTION
Ephesians 2:1-3
· Dead in transgressions and sins (v.1)
· Followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of air (v.2a)
· Gratifying the cravings of the sinful nature
· Following the sinful nature’s desires and thoughts
· Object of wrath
The redeemed are people who saw how filthy/dirty they were in sin and found out there is a Savior who redeemed them by dying on the cross, forgiving their sin by shedding His blood and rising from the dead.
B. THE REDEEMED AFTER REDEMPTION
Ephesians 1:7 - In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.
Pinatawad Niya tayo sa pamamagitan ng pagtubos sa atin sa pamamagitan ng dugo ni Kristo!
Instead na tayo ang ipako sa krus at mamatay because of sins, JESUS DID IT FOR YOU AND FOR ME.
CONCLUSION
As redeemed people of God, we are exceedingly valuable to HIM.
As a redeemed people of God, go forth and walk as free men.
Reflection [Magnilay-nilay]
1. Ikaw ba ay redeemed na? Kung hindi pa, maari mong gawin ang pagsuko kay Hesus at pagtalikod sa kasalanan. Tanggapin mo na ngayon ang Kanyang pagtubos sa iyong buhay.
2. Sino sa mga tao sa paligid mo ang nais mong matubos rin ng Panginoong Hesus nang Kanyang banal na dugo? Sino sa kanila ang ibig mong maging Malaya na rin sa tanikala ng kasalanan ng kanilang buhay?
3. “As a redeemed people of God, go forth and walk as free men.” Ano ang dapat na ipinamumuhay ng isang tao na malaya na?

What specific actions (towards God, towards others, towards yourself) ang dapat mong gawin para makita sa buhay mo na ikaw ay REDEEMED na?
