Opening [Pambungad]

Napakahalaga to build a genuine relationship with your members.

3. Kamustahin ang kanilang mga naging nakaraang lingo – any highlights or challenges.

4. Kamustahin kung nagawa ba nila ang application last week

(Please open your Bibles with your CC kapag may mga verse na nabanggit sa ibaba)

How EATING was part of Jesus’ ministry:

§ He ate with the sinners – mga tax collectors, prostitutes at iba pang mga outcasts ng society.

§ He ate with the crowd – nagpakain siya ng 4000, ng 5000 at hindi niya hinayaang may magutom sa kanyang mga tagasunod.

§ He even ate with people who treat him as enemies – kumain po siya sa bahay ng isang kilalang Pharisee kung saan binabantayan ang lahat ng kilos niya at hinuhuli siya sa anuman ang sasabihin niya.

I. Jesus is after relational value, not just nutritional benefits

“Sharing a meal is one of the primary ways relationships are established, deepened and enjoyed both with God and with others.”

Discipleship begins at home

Matthew 26:20 “When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve.”

Naniniwala tayo sa Proverbs 22:6 na “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

Discipleship is strengthened in the church

John 13:4-5 “so [Jesus] got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.”

Habang sila ay kumakain, Jesus did the unthinkable. Nag-serve siya. At hindi lang basta paglilingkod – it was a kind of service done by slaves during that time.

Alam niyo po ba what happens when we share a meal with someone?

§ When we share a meal with someone, it means we value that person so much because we’re giving away time and attention.

§ When we share a meal with someone, we are showing a tangible expression of love, service, and being united as a spiritual family.

§ When we share a meal with someone, we express true fellowship and genuine community.

§ When we share a meal with someone, we nourish our need to know and be known because of our face-to-face conversation.

The best investment we can do in the kingdom of God is investing in the lives of others.

II. Jesus is after eternal celebration, not just earthly tradition

Jesus invites us to a meal despite our failures

Matthew 26:20-25 “When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?” Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?” Jesus answered, “You have said so.”

Jesus knew, but Judas ate too. Jesus knew that they will fail, but they ate too.

Jesus invites us to a meal to celebrate our eternal future

Matthew 26:29 “I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”

It is both looking back and looking forward. We look back and remember his death and also look forward to join him in eternal life.

Isaiah 25:6 , Amos 9:13-14

Conclusion:

Una, Jesus is after the relational value, not just the nutritional value of our meals.

Pangalawa, Jesus is after eternal celebration, not just earthly traditions.

Isn’t it awesome how can a simple meal be God’s way to bring people closer to Him?

Reflection [Magnilay-nilay]

1. Kamusta ang inyong pagsasalu-salo sa bahay? Nagagawa pa ba ito? Napapag-usapan pa rin ba si Jesus?

2. Kailan ka huling nag-share ng meal with someone in your spiritual family sa MFGC? Anong pumipigil sa iyo?

It can be a simple dinner sa bahay o sa labas. Resist on using your mobile phone or gadget during meal.

Prayer [Panalangin]

Closing [Pangwakas]

I-remind ang grupo tungkol sa mg ito:

- Kanilang daily Bible reading and devotion

- Pagdalo sa church

- Pagbibigay (tithes and offering)
