Eyes of Worship

By: Ptr. Noolen Mayo

I. INTRODUCTION

Good evening everyone!

III. PAG-AAWITAN

IV. PAMBUNGAD NA PANALANGIN

Our Father in heaven, truly we want to see you high and lifted up tonight. With our testimonies, we want to declare of Your goodness. Praise Your Awesome Name! Once again, we want to feel Your Presence even sa ganitong flatforms (facebook or Zoom). We will give heed and be encountered with Your Word that we are going to hear with our speaker. And may our prayers be aligned with Your Will and Righteousness – that You will answer all these desires. Again, thank You for this time & blessed be the name of Jesus, amen!

V. MESSAGE

a. INTRODUCTION

Alam po ba natin na may series na rin tayo every wednesday during OPC or Faith Night? Last month, di man masyado na-emphasize ay tungkol sa ‘Praying God’s Word’ kaya ang mga naging topics natin ay ‘Take God at His Word’; ‘Thy Word is a Lamp; and ’God’s Word vs The Devil’s Lies’.

Ang series naman natin ngayon month of Febraury ay ‘Battling Through Worship’. Hindi lang po tayo magpapalalim ng pananampalataya kundi ma-encourage din tayo na mag- worship any moment of the day (hindi lang tuwing Sunday). While we strengthen our faith, we also enjoy & make our worship to God; our lifestyle and even in the midst of battles.

So, let us start with our topic for this time, ‘Eyes of Worship (Our Eyes are Upon You!) - through the life of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. Pwede ba yun?

b. BACKGROUND

May we read His Word for us today...

‘... For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us.

We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.’

2 Chronicles 20: 12

Kaya pa rin ba natin sabihin ‘our eyes are upon You!’

This is King Jehoshaphat based on...

The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David before him. He did not consult the Baals 4 but sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel. 5 The Lord established the kingdom under his control; and all Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, so that he had great wealth and honor. 6 His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord; furthermore, he removed the high places and the Asherah poles from Judah.

2 Chronicles 17: - 6

So, I can simply say King Jehoshaphat is worshipful; his lifestyle is worshipping the Lord always therefore in every situation na darating sa buhay niya kasama ang kanyang mga nasasakupan, masasabi nilang, ‘our eyes are on You!

'Worship’ means – in every moment of our lives, we revere; honor and adore God, not simply because of what He does for us but for who He is.

c. EYES OF WORSHIP (OUR EYES ARE UPON YOU!)

i. WE SEE HIS PROTECTION

Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom ...’

2 Chronicles 20 2

They were warned; they were alamed!

When we do not commune with God thru His Words, paano natin malalaman na may babala Siya para sa atin?

Worshipping is again, reading / meditating HIs Word day and night; every moment of our lives.

Again, we see His protection.

ii. WE SEE HIS ASSURANCE

‘ … Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.

2 Chronicles 20: 15

Being worshipful builds us to be strong!

Tulad ng preaching noong Sunday, He will provide for our needs. He assures us of these things.

iii. WE SEE HIS VICTORY

As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.

2 Chronicles 20: 22

An ambush is a military strategy to surprise an enemy unware. This is one of the ways to defeat an enemy. So, while God set an ambush for the three countries, they just celebrate with singing and praising unto the Lord. For the enemy has been defeated.

When we sing unto the Lord; when we praise the name of the Lord – it means we are celebrating victories upon victories. Another way to show our worship unto God. Resting our feet on Him, putting confidence in HIs power, trusting His ways, we can just say our victory shouts!

Many examples in the bible while singing ang shouting praises unto God makes them celebrate. Jericho walls fell while they are shouting; Paul’s prison cell door breaks open while praising the Lord; King Jehoshaphat and Judah were singing while watching their enemy’s fight with each other.

iv. WE SEE HIS BLESSINGS

‘... and they found among them a great amount of equipment and clothing and also articles of value—more than they could take away. There was so much plunder that it took three days to collect it.’

2 Chronicles 20: 25

For three days, they were gathering blessings from their enemies.

We see how abundant His blessings, every bit & pieces ng pagpapala Niya ay nakikita natin, nahahanap natin.

Many examples in the bible while singing ang shouting praises unto God makes them celebrate. Jericho walls fell while they are shouting; Paul’s prison cell door breaks open while praising the Lord; King Jehoshaphat and Judah were singing while watching their enemy’s fight with each other.

d. CONCLUSION

‘And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God had given him rest on every side.

2 Chronicles 20: 30

Let us continue to fix our eyes on Jesus; continue to have the eyes of worship!
